Uncertain Future For Town Centre Shop

Friday April 4 2014

We Are Barnsley We Are Barnsley

STAFF at the town centre's Herbert Brown store face an uncertain future after it went into administration.

Four staff at the Peel Street shop have been left at risk of redundancy.

Herbert Brown, which specialises in pawnbroking, buying gold, cheque cashing and unsecured lending, was founded in Leeds in 1840 and has 44 stores across the UK.

Administrator Mike Jervis said: "We plan to sell all or part of the business to protect as many jobs as possible.

"Every branch will initially remain open as sale discussions progress. This also enables customers to continue to redeem their goods as normal as they pay off their loans."

WAB any good reason why the thread on MP Michael Dugher regarding his ridiculous claims that he vows to aboiish Bedroom Tax was removed, yet you continue to run the story?

The thread was informing the people of Barnsley that Ed Miliband introduced and voted for the Bedroom Tax in the Welfare Reform Act 2007 and that 47 Labour MPs declined to vote against Bedroom Tax during the recent Parliamentary vote.

By gagging the public in voicing this is clearly unfair, as its very important people know the truth.

Freedom of speech will prevail and wrong doings and lies will be exposed.
