Wilson To Remain In Charge Next Season

DANNY Wilson has confirmed he will be in charge of Barnsley next season - and is planning to stick around for a lot longer.

Having been handed the reins at Oakwell for a second time after David Flitcroft's sacking in December, Wilson's contract details remained undisclosed.

Despite uncertainty about which division the Reds will be playing in next season, the club's board has already made a start on Barnsley's long-term future by installing a new assistant manager, Chris Hutchings, and Barnsley-born Mark Crossley as the new goalkeeping coach.

Both appointments - thanks to Wilson’s recommendations - are surely clear indicators of the board's support for their manager.

"I have enjoyed every minute since I have been back and we are going to build it back up to exactly where we want it to be," the 54-year-old said.

"It may take time, but we will get there. I'm very much looking forward to it, but there’s a ‘little’ job to do first and foremost.

"It will be a big test for us to survive from where we are at this moment in time but if we do it, it will be a fantastic platform for us to kick on from next season."
