A BALACLAVA clad armed robber struck at a Barnsley bookies on Tuesday night.

Bet Fred, on Barnsley Road, Goldthorpe was targeted at around 8.50pm.

The suspect, who was armed with a knife, threatened staff and made off with a small quantity of cash.

It is unclear if he ran off or fled the scene in a vehicle.

He was a white male, about 6 feet tall, of medium or stocky build, and had his face covered with a balaclava.

Witnesses have also reported seeing a dark coloured Audi A4 near the premises shortly before the robbery happened and detectives are keen to hear from anyone who knows something about the vehicle.

Anyone with information is urged to call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 1022 of 18 March, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

I think you'll find it's TOE rag not tow rag.......but then again hardly anyone knows grammar these days!!!

@Jimbo and Justin Credible. You both are right, "Tow Rag" means a low-life, scum, or loser, this was the spelling if it as it was originally a British Royal Naval term meaning, a bit of rag. It was later changed to toe.

Anyway, does it really matter if someone can't spell every word? This was about a theft and a scary one at that!
