Council U-Turn After Parents' Requests To Replace Slide

Wednesday March 12 2014

A STOLEN slide at a popular children's playground has now been replaced.

Heartless thieves struck at the Hoyle Mill playground two weeks ago and it looked like it would not be replaced by the council due to 'budget pressures'.

However, parents' pleas were heard and a replacement has now been fitted.

Coun Margaret Bruff said: "It’s disgraceful that someone would deprive children of play equipment by stealing a slide, but thankfully we have managed to replace it on this occasion. I know that it will be enjoyed by many children."

It's been missing longer than 2 wks. They can spend £100.000 on a skate park but can't replace the slide. Sounds about right for bmbc.

So liberality does exist up on the hill.

Well done to whoever was responsible for showing some common sense and persuading the ‘powers that be’ to get the kids their replacement slide.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Well done whoever made the decision to source funds to replace the slide.
