Amy Winehouse Foundation To Come To Barnsley Schools

Tuesday March 11 2014

We Are Barnsley We Are Barnsley

BARNSLEY is to get a new drug and alcohol education programme which is run by the charity set up by the father of the late singer Amy Winehouse.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation - which has joined forces with drug and alcohol charity Addaction - will deliver a five-year education programme to secondary school children in Barnsley.

It will offer drug and alcohol education and support for youngsters affected by substance abuse at home.

It is being delivered thanks to a £4.3million grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

Simon Antrobus, chief executive of Addaction, said: "This will really help thousands of kids who need to talk about drugs, drink and other concerns.

"We've been hugely impressed with the foundation's commitment to addressing the lack of decent drug education in our schools, and how they have campaigned for more and more pupils to benefit from this effective and brilliant programme."
