Firefighters To Raise Money For Injured Colleagues

Wednesday March 5 2014

BARNSLEY'S firefighters will be washing cars this Saturday as part of a national event to raise money for their injured colleagues.

The event is aimed at raising money for The Fire Fighter's Charity, which supports injured firefighters and their families.

As well as washing cars, firefighters will also be on hand to offer road and fire safety advice.

Station manager Steve Adams said: "We are appealing for members of the public to support this event.

"They will drive away in a clean car and will also be given advice on fire safety. At the same time, they will contribute a valuable donation to this great charity."

Firefighters from Cudworth station, on Tumbling Lane, will be on hand with their sponges from 11am-1pm and from 3pm-5pm.

That's a laugh, firemans charity, they get fantastic wages, retire at 55, unbelievable early pensions, sleep when on nights and they expect us to support them!!

Amanda, its a career choice they make. They get remunerated well, early retirement, excellent pension and have lots of time off between shifts.

What makes them more needy than many others?

Will they be washing cars in their own time or doing it while getting paid.???

They'll be getting paid and probably getting cash in hand for washing cars too....

They want us to feel sorry for them, like they are worse off than most folk. How stupid are people for believing all this rubbish?

These people complaining make me sick yes they get paid but so does everyone else that has a job does not mean that they ask to be injured! Idiots bet you wouldn't be complaining if they were to save you, family member or a friend or came to your rescue in a major collision I say good on them for raising money!

God..some people are so small minded they do get good pensions they bloody well deserve it..if they get injured young and can't work we know for a fact this government aint gonna support them!! However..if your over here illegally claiming shit loads of benefit's or never worked a day in your life you'll get by just fine!! Their job involves risking their lives grow up!!

Ahh the comments of envy. For those of you criticising this effort to raise money for charity (e.g. supporting injured firefighters and families of those who have died on duty) hang your heads in shame. If you want a job in fire service then get forward. Or if your happy on benefits or on low.paid jobs then stop carping.

Some very jealous people about. If you think they have a great career and pension, what's stopping you applying. On the subject of pensions they are in the same position as the Police and other public sector workers now paying 14 % of their income for a pension worth tens of thousands less than the one ythey joined up for because the Government can do this to them. I for one am greatful for all emergency services and the jobs they do. I hope they raised a lot of money for their charity. Its like all those that call the Police, if you could do a better job there's applications for both online.
