Pay-To-Use Toilets Installed At Penistone

Friday February 28 2014

PLANS to install 'pay-to-use' toilets in Penistone have been unveiled by the town council.

It will spend £18,000 on gutting the existing facilities - which include separate men's and women's toilets - and install a single pay-to-use unisex toilet which will cost 20p to use.

The new facilities will include baby-changing facilities and disabled access.

Funding for the project includes £8,000 from ISG Pearce, the company which built Tesco, and £10,000 of town council money.

Next they will be charging you to wipe your arse, then charge you for washing your hands, then charge you for drying your hand with hand blowers, flaming ridiculous, what won't they charge us for?

Really people, its 20p, it's hardly breaking bank is it. You'll prob never really use them anyway, maybe on the odd occasion when your desperate, but that's it. There's more pressing matters to worry about than paying 20p to use a toilet.

20p to use facilities not a great amount to pay if it means the toilets are maintained regularly. There are a lot of elderly folks in Penistone some of who may be greatfull of the service. If you go to the coast and use facilities you have to pay for the cleaner toilets and when desperate you will pay. My concern is why is the town council spending so much on toilets? Tesco provides toilets. Is ISG giving this money as part of green funding which provides public services such as parks in areas being developed? If so it's not a great loss to them it's a tax relief on profits made from building tesco... The bigger question is does Penistone need these new toilets and why should council tax payers pay for it.
