Co-op To Close In Grimethorpe

Monday February 24 2014

THE Co-operative supermarket in Grimethorpe will close in March, the company has confirmed.

The 13 staff employed by the store - which has been acquired by another retailer - will have their terms and conditions of employment maintained.

A Co-operative spokesman said: "We can confirm the Co-operative on Cemetery Road in Grimethorpe is due to close on Saturday March 1.

"We're pleased to have concluded a deal which ensures employment for staff, and a continued service for the local community.

"We would also like to thank our shoppers for their valued custom over the years."

CO-OP have announced the biggest losses in their history at £2BN last year so it is inevitable that some of the underperforming shops will close.

I will also predict that CO-OP will be bought out by Aldi, anyone want a little wager?
