Bank Raises Money For Hospital's Sick Babies

Monday February 10 2014

A LOCAL bank has made a difference for Barnsley's sick babies.

The team at the town centre branch of Yorkshire Bank, who raised £293.42 by donning their Christmas jumpers a few months ago, are now set to raise even more by taking on the Rainbow Run.

Organised by Barnsley Hospital Charity, the untimed 5km run will see runners wearing white at the start and end up covered in rainbow colours.

Matt Patterson, from the bank, said: "We often fundraise for various charities, however I have personal motivation to raise money for Barnsley Hospital and especially for the special care baby unit.

"My son was born prematurely just before Christmas 2012 and spent a couple of months in there.

"The department and its staff are absolutely amazing and I intend to raise more money in the future to help the department."

Katie Cartwright, fundraising manager at Barnsley Hospital Charity, said: "We're so grateful to the team at Yorkshire Bank. We're looking forward to seeing them all at the Rainbow Run and encourage local people to get involved and join us."
