Barnsley Sign Crystal Palace Defender

BARNSLEY have completed the loan signing of Crystal Palace defender Jack Hunt on a deal until the end of the season.

Manager Danny Wilson was forced back into the loan market after Liverpool loanee Ryan McLaughlin suffered a tear to his hamstring.

Wilson said: "Ryan had a scan earlier this week and it revealed a tear, which means he'll be out for a minimum of four weeks, which is very unfortunate.

"For what’s available at this moment in time, Jack’s head and shoulders above everyone else. He’s been injured for a while and is short of match practice but we know enough about him to know what a terrific player he is."

The defender made 120 appearances for Huddersfield - where he turned professional - and he was snapped up by Crystal Palace in August after continually impressing for the Reds' Yorkshire rivals.

"He has terrific pace, defends well and passes it well and is an attack-minded full-back," added Wilson.

"He’s very similar to young Ryan but with more experience."
