Sneak Thief Targets Local Business

A BUSINESS owner has warned others to be alert after a man pretending to drop leaflets off stole her mobile phone.

Nicola Robinson, 23, of Mojito Hair Studio on Wombwell Lane, was targeted earlier this week.

The man, described as middle-aged and with olive skin, placed the leaflets on the reception's counter and swiped the iPhone while she wasn't looking.

"It was just a busy day," Nicola said. "I didn't think anything of it as we regularly have people dropping leaflets off.

"I didn't realise he took it until about five minutes afterwards."

The handful of leaflets left behind were advertising last year's German market in Leeds.

Police confirmed enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident number 402 of January 22.

Its not easy but its best to keep things out of sight. Sneak theft and fake calling is not uncommon. It is not nice when stuff gets nicked. Phones have a lot of information in them, there is nothing to stop thieves using that for further crimes. Be vigilant and do not allow people in without appointments, or if you know them . Just take a look at what has happened and learn from it.

all Barnsley's a right dump & the folk still wallow in self-pity and ignorance. Chips on shoulders, burglary for drugs, benefits laziness, lacking education and expecting to walk into well paid jobs. Stuck in 1984 & that's why normal folk like myself escape.

I'm glad I don't live in Wombwell, must be worst place in the borough now. All you see is crime reports; drugs, thieving, stabbings, shootings, murders, domestic violence & worse. Happier here in Lundwood.

Haven't we been informed that the crime rate is coming down...someone's been telling porkies yet again.

Grimethorpe is no longer the yardstick for gloom & doom. It has since become an up & coming place. Hundreds of attractive, private new homes. Lots of investment & jobs. There's jobs for Polish economic migrants at Symphonski Kitchens and, for the local uneducated folk, there's ASOS. Giving the people what they want. It no longer has the social problems we see in abundance in places like Athersley, Carlton, Cudworth & Brierley.

You sure bout that @Kilkenny look at were you live firstly, not exactly glitz and glam. Bad stuff always happens in London, like every place has got bad people livin in it. Every one is brought up differently, it's what you do with your life that makes a difference.

As for being normal, no such thing.

The shop is in wombwell lane which is just passed the ash pub going towards stairfoot. I wouldnt call it wombwell. This happens wherever you live now. Thieves are not from a set place. Wouldnt get a chance of getting my iphone as i keep it very close to me in my bra.
