Reds Look At Bringing In Another Striker

THE Reds could bring in another striker before the end of the January transfer window.

German frontman Nick Proschwitz signed on loan from Hull City until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old joined Hull for £2.5million at the start of last season and helped them to promotion to the Premier League.

It's understood he was one of three strikers on Barnsley's shortlist and that one of the other two could join him this week.

Manager Danny Wilson said: "Nick's experience is something that will help us now.

"He's someone who will be able to hit the ground running. I think Nick and Chris O'Grady will be able to feed off each other quite well.

"Nick's a player that does like to score, he can get into the box well and is a good finisher."

Another Barnsley target, Billy Sharp, joined Doncaster after the Reds had agreed terms with his parent club Southampton but the striker didn't want to come to Oakwell.

As for players leaving the club, the Reds are keen to move Kelvin Etuhu on.

The most likely outcome for the central midfielder is a loan until the end of the season but he could be released or sold.

Young defender Andrai Jones is also close to moving on and League Two Morecambe have asked to take him on trial.

Wilson added: "We're looking to get a few more of the fringe players out."

this is so refreshing to hear.i had no confidence in flitroft or hill. they wouldn't move things as quickly as this because they are simply clue less. we now have a manager in place who knows how to make things tick. flitcrioft was more concerned about what the other team was going to do to us. it gave me confidence reading that mr Wilson intends to do the opposite. I was impressed too that he placed job in the middle. how good is that. as a manager?. onwards and upwards I say. one gripe I have is with the board who failed to realise earlier in the season what was happening, and didn't do this with the mnager till late in the season yet again.!!!

I think it was because of the exploits of last season he was allowed to overstay his welcome. Now we have a proper manager again and got rid of the deadwood it is indeed onwards and upwards. Go on a run and string a few wins together it all changes at the bottom COYR

Two poor decisions from Danny, Kennedy staying and outing Etuhu.
