Primary School 'Requires Improvement'

OFSTED inspectors say Shafton Primary Academy 'requires improvement'.

The report, published on January 8, said the quality of teaching was inconsistent.

It stated: "There are not enough pupils from all groups making the expected amount of progress."

It also said marking was inconsistent, and that support from the academy's sponsor, ATS, is limited.

Half of parents who responded to Ofsted's questionnaire were also concerned about behaviour and bullying.

But it added that senior leaders had a 'clear understanding' of what needed to be improved and how this will happen.

An interim report in June said the academy had been making reasonable progress.

This was the first full inspection since the school became an academy in 2012.
