Generous People Pull Together To Replace Stolen Bike

Tuesday January 7 2014

We Are Barnsley We Are Barnsley

GENEROUS Barnsley residents clubbed together to replace a ten-year-old girl's bike which was stolen days after she got it for Christmas.

Ella Rich's new bike was stolen from her family's garage on Field Drive, Cudworth, on December 29, and the generous response was prompted by an appeal posted on our Facebook page.

Her mum, Lisa, put the picture on with a note explaining what had happened just in case someone spotted the stolen bike and it 'spread like wild fire'.

Less than 24 hours later, Ella opened the door to find a couple holding a new bike exactly the same as the one she'd lost.

"Her face just lit up", said Lisa. "We just couldn't believe it. We were absolutely astonished.

"It was the police who told us to put it on Facebook, just in case someone spotted it. It never crossed my mind that people would start raising money."

Ella's dad Andy is a keen mountain biker, and Ella had asked for a bike for Christmas so she could go with him.

How lovely that people chipped together to get her another bike! She wasn't careless and had it put away 'safe' in their garage, so I can imagine how gutted they were to find it had gone missing! - CCTV would be my next investment, that or a baseball bat, or both! ;)

Who the chuff is FAT PUGS, where do they come up with these names?!
