Home For Homeless Ex-Soldiers To Be Made

Tuesday January 7 2014

A HOME for homeless former soldiers is being created in Barnsley.

A property in Washington Road, Goldthorpe, has been earmarked and the council has agreed to give £60,000 to Barnsley Community Build, which is providing the accommodation.

BCB will now assess the property to see whether it can be renovated or if it needs to be knocked down first.

Cllr Joe Hayward, of BCB, said: "We may even look at an extension onto the property so there can be a common room for the soldiers too.

"We still have a fair way to go yet."

Fantastic, how about getting some of the people who will live their involved in the build/renovation and help give them a trade that they can use through a training scheme at the same time.
