Dad Jailed After Murdering His Baby Son

Wednesday December 18 2013

Michael Beaumont Michael Beaumont

A BARNSLEY man has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering his 11-month-old son.

Michael Carl Beaumont, 29, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday morning.

A jury found Beaumont, of Chapel Street, Hoyland, guilty of murdering Kadan and was told to serve a minimum of 18 years.

The jury also found Kadan's mum, Helen Barnes, 28, guilty of neglect and she was sentenced to six months in prison suspended for 12 months.

Emergency services were called to the family home in Hoyland at 10am on September 28, 2011, following reports that the 11-month-old had been unwell.

The boy was taken to Barnsley Hospital and later transported to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where he died.

During the trial, the court heard how Beaumont had claimed that his son had been knocked over by the family dog in order to disguise the horrific injuries that he had inflicted upon the 11-month-old.

The real unfortunate thing is for all those saying he will get what he deserves from the other inmates, he won't. He will have his saftey protected in segregation because of his rights. Time the British justice system was made a lot tougher. 18 yrs before he has right to appeal for release, unlikely first time, but 20 yrs and he will be walking streets again. Its not punishment for killing a child.

Disgraceful! Lets just hope it was one horrific isolated incident that killed him and that the poor boy didnt suffer at the hands of his not so loving parents for months of his short life :-(
If parents struggle to cope with their babies or children they should seek help (plenty avaliable with childrens centres and health visitors etc) or have them fostered or adopted into a family that would cherish and love the little one lots of people would love to adoot a beautiful baby boy!!

There are people out there desperate for kids why not just let the baby go to a loving home how can people be so cruel. They need to castrate with no anaesthetic

People like this guy wants hanging the baby's mum wants sterilising never to have any any more children I blame her she could have picked her baby up an walked away like a normal mum would have no one should do what they did to any child there are people out there desperate for a family an given the chance would make kind an loving parents so the social services should have been brought an the baby removed I know the work they do I work with them an have done for over 20 years

The woman shouldn't have gotten off with an almost scot-free sentence... bet she was to blame for most of the neglect too, bang her up as long as the bloke they are both scum and don't deserve to live on this world. RIP poor child x

Any form of a quick execution is far too good for both of them, they deserve a slow n painful death like that poor lil one had to endure. They can run but, there will NOT be anywhere for them to hide in prison.

Im crying writing this how can anyone be left to walk the streets after doing such an horrific thing i would so very much love to walk in the path of the so called mother all my children are now grown up so i wouldnt mind doing a prison sentence for kicking this vile person to her death may she rot in hell.

She will never get the chance to be a mother again as social services will have been made aware of this and any child she has will be taken straight from her. They both want to rot in hell.
