Hassell Felt 'Mistreated' In Flicker Era

Wednesday December 11 2013

Bobby Hassell Bobby Hassell

BOBBY Hassell had said he felt 'mistreated' at times under David Flitcroft's reign at Barnsley.

The defender, who is in his tenth season at Oakwell, has not been a regular in the starting 11 this term and admits his relationship with Flicker was strictly a working one.

"I've been out and about in the town and fans have asked me about my relationship with David," the 33-year-old said.

"The honest truth is that we weren't close friends. I felt mistreated at times but I'm not one to hold grudges and I certainly wasn't happy to see him go.

"He left on good terms with me.

"It's time for us to unite as a club - the hierarchy, the staff, the academy, the players and the fans. A house divided cannot stand."

he has been out of a team for a long time. he was ignore by flitcroft. what goes round comes around. and karma came for flitcroft. serves him right he got the sack. not sure if bobby may be too old now?. or how is fitness level is?. but i think we missed him massively during the last couple of seasons. flitcroft had his favourites. we...the fans knew who the best players are. good riddance to flitcroft. and the idiot who went before him.

My good god. Blaming a manager because a player could not play in a GAME. Get a grip. As I said its only a game. Cry me a river. They'll be in bottom division anyway soon because nobody wants to spend money on a rubbish team in a rubbish town. You can't polish a turd

Yes Bob has been a good player in the past, but if a manager does not think you ate part of his plans, you are hardly being "mistreated'...too much sentimentally in football, if you can't produce the goods anymore, then its perhaps time to move on...the phrase 'loyal servant' makes me laugh, getting paid wages some people only dream of, does not make a footballer a 'servant'...
