Former Moorland Plastic Site Could Be Housing

Tuesday January 17 2012

THE FORMER site of Moorland Plastics is earmarked for sale by Barnsley Council and could become a housing estate.

The company now has a new site on Carlton Industrial Estate but the old one - on Moorland Avenue - has been offered for sale to Gleeson Homes.

Gleeson Homes will proceed with the deal if they get planning consent for a housing development.

Why is the council letting builder buy this land for housing ? The council should not be allowing them to to build on this land until they give something back from all the profits they make. Give the local community something they need.
