Police Appeal After Barnsley Man Dies

Thursday October 31 2013

A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a collision in Barnsley.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened in Boulder Bridge Lane, Carlton, near to the junction with Shaw Lane, at about 12.50pm on October 30.

A 27-year-old man was riding an off-road blue and black Yamaha motorbike when the bike left the road and was in collision with a wall.

The man, from Cudworth, was taken to hospital where he later died.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw the off-road motorcycle being driven in the area at the time, to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 447 of October 30.

Sad to hear the news about any death...

But these off road motorbikes are a bloody nusience, i live in carlton and in the last 3 yrs alone, a young girl got hit by a bike, was in hospital for months with spinal damage, and recently a wpc got run over , whilst trying to apprehend a young lad on his bike ..

This lad was our work colleague and a good friend of ours. To put the record straight to those who have a gripe around off road bikes, Craig was a complete novice rider and this was his first time on the bike. Craig bought the bike that was a none-runner and saved up to have it fixed, he had just got the bike back this weekend but had no time to test ride it. On his break-time he had a spare few minutes to give it a run. Craig was so excited just to get on it and give it a quick go and was on it for less than 5 minutes before he lost control. Craig's goal was to use it on a proper race-track and not on the fields, as some may believe. Craig was happy and laughing as per usual on that day, unfortunately 5 minutes later we were told he had come off the bike. We went up the lane and was devastated to see our friend that way, we waited with him whilst the paramedics arrived in total shock. It was a pleasure to know Craig and also the fact that we were with him in his final moments.

'We will miss this soft lad 4eva and a day'

RIP Pal

To all those genuine people who put nice comments on about Craig. Thankyou. Just a few words to let you know about my son, Craig was only 26 and a lovely father, son and brother. He was not a thug, waster or a bad lad. He worked hard to provide for his partner and two beautiful little girl's. So proud of my son and he does not deserve the negative comments from people who did not know him or the facts. I will say this to all young lads who think your invincible " you are not"' please be more patient and carefully don't rush at things. Take care. Life is to short. I shouldn't be burying my26 year old son. RIP Craig. Love and miss you forever. Dad Note to Bob " you didn't know my son, if you have any guts come and meet me"
