A MAN who smokes £40 of cannabis a day has been ordered to undergo a six-month drug rehabilitation course having been caught trying to grow his own.

Jonathan Musson, 29, said he smoked high volumes of the drug every day and was caught trying to grow his own cannabis, Barnsley Magistrates' Court was told.

Julie Grant, prosecuting, said police found six plants being grown under lamps at Musson's home at Wath Road, Wombwell.

She said: "Mr Musson had been growing the plants for five or six weeks. He smoked cannabis with friends but that did not happen often.

"He said he smoked tons of cannabis. He smoked between £30 and £40 of it a day."

Musson, who admitted production of cannabis, was ordered to do 60 hours of unpaid work, to pay £85 in costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

If he can afford to spend £30 or £40 a day smoking weed, let him pay for his own rehabilitation course!

All these bloody do gooders on here who never do anything wrong. What harm has the man done? hes not shoved it in anyones face and as for smoking himself to death, its not gonna happen. No one has ever died from smoking cannabis. Unlike those pillocks who drink too much and die of liver failure. Even normal cigarettes have tar and nicotine. But of course that's legal. Strange laws in this country.

my drug of choice is whisky but there is a difference with drugs... the old lady gets a brick in the face to steal £18 from her snatched handbag and if they get caught they always claim its for drugs not beer!. Something about drug addiction makes violent theft from weaker ones acceptable. Thats the real cost to society
