Barnsley mums contribute to record-breaking attempt Barnsley mums contribute to record-breaking attempt

THE world record for the number of women and babies breastfeeding across the world simultaneously was broken - with the help of mothers from across Barnsley.

About 29 women took their babies to Locke Park on August 2 to take part in The Big Latch On.

The provisional new record is 14,536 mums and babies breastfeeding - but could still be higher.

But Carolyn Ellis of Voluntary Action Barnsley said: "The record is most definitely smashed."

Not to take anything away from the brave mums of Barnsley who helped smash this record - but why is breastfeeding such a big thing? Or am I missing something?

I think there just been women trying to prove something.
In the past the made a boob of burning the bra. now more woman than ever wear bras then there was the woman who topped herself by jumping in front of the kings horse for the right to vote and equality. That worked because now they have to work as long as a man i. think when woman try to go forward 3 paces they end up going back 5

It's a big thing because some people, to this day, think breast feeding mothers shouldn't feed in public and instead should hide away like its wrong. It's natural and woman should be encouraged to breast feed if possible :)
