A COUNCILLOR is looking to set up a support group for sufferers of Meniere's Disease.

Cllr Margaret Sheard is appealing for sufferers to contact her with a view to setting up a Barnsley Meniere's support group for those who suffer the condition, which affects the inner ear and can cause veritgo, tinnitus and hearing loss.

"Over the last few months I have spoken to those who are suffering or have suffered from the disease and I think that setting up a support group would help.

"I think sufferers being able to talk together would benefit them, as they can speak to those who truly understand what they are going through."

Are the council going to give it the finance it will need or are you going to depend on local people donations,

Hi Margaret, this is a great idea. It might be worth thinking about badging it for tinnitus & meniere's as you'd get more people that way as more people suffer from tinnitus & we did have a tinnitus support group a few years ago. We would be happy to come & speak if you get this up & running.
