Little Ebonie Suffers Setback After Scan

Tuesday August 6 2013

Ebonie Webb Ebonie Webb

A SCAN has shown that little Ebonie Webb's tumour has spread to the most complex part of her brain - and there's very little treatment available.

Ebonie, six, was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was six months old. Her parents Mick and Leanne, of Honeywell, have raised money ever since in the hope of sending her to America for treatment.

But their hopes were dashed when the tumour spread to her spine and the latest scan revealed last Monday that it had further spread to the hypothalamus, the most complex part of the brain and the nervous centre for primitive physical and emotional behaviour.

She will also eventually lose her eyesight, Leanne said.

"We're absolutely devastated. The doctors don't know what they're going to do but whatever they do, it's going to be prolonging rather than fixing anything."

Ebonie will now undergo surgery and chemotherapy as soon as possible.

Leanne and Mick, 34, are hoping to take Ebonie, who celebrated her birthday on Sunday, to Disneyland Paris with her sisters Poppie, four, Frankie, one, and stepbrother Lochlan, 15.

"She loves Disney, her favourite character is Princess Brave - she is brave like Ebonie.

"She's fine now, but we want to take her in the next couple of weeks before she's not well enough to go."

It's a shame that Ebonie's parents had to raise money to send their little girl to America for treatment more should be done in the UK to raise money so that lifesaving treatment for Brain tumours can be done here! Only 2% of any money raised through cancer research goes towards research into brain tumours yet more young people die from Brain Tumours than any other cancer every year. Stay Brave little Ebonie xxxx

Stay strong little lady. If there was such thing as God, he/she would let the good live and prematurely take the lives of killers, rapists etc. everyone's thoughts are with little Ebonie xx

Sat here with a twisted feeling in my stomach. My lord Ebonie, you are such a brave little girl and I so wish you well. A true battler and someone who is an example of "get up and fight". All children should take note and become an example of this brave girl.

I agree with Julie. I find it difficult to understand what you would put before our kids. We've cut back for the banks but couldn't we hsve bought a few less tanks or criminal justice pointless exercises. Best of luck Ebonie
