BARNSLEY market will be open for business as usual tomorrow - despite the strikes that have been announced by public sector workers.

The council has issued statement saying that shoppers will be able to use the Metropolitan Centre, market hall and open market - but public toilets will be closed and the lift and escalators will not be working.

The spokesman added: "The nearest public toilets are located at the Transport Interchange at Midland Street and the Alhambra Centre at Cheapside.

"Customers who have a mobility issue will be able to access the upper market hall via the ramp adjacent to the multi-storey car park stairwell, or from the Alhambra shopping centre."
