Appeal For Witnesses After Road Accident

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious accident that happened on Tankersley roundabout on Saturday (November 26) at 6.50pm.
A white Mercedes minibus was in a layby at the side of the A616 when the driver of the minibus attempted to complete a u-turn to head back towards Tankersley roundabout - it collided with a red Peugeot 206 travelling from Tankersley roundabout towards the motorway.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 47-year-old woman from Rotherham suffered serious ankle and chest injuries. She was taken to Northern General Hospital and detained.
The driver of the minibus, a 49-year-old man from Colne was not hurt.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or the moments leading up to it is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident 1021 of 26 November 2011.
