Campus building wins award Campus building wins award

BARNSLEY College's Old Mill Lane campus beat 40 of Yorkshire and Humber's most impressive property schemes to win a top award.

The college won the Community Benefit category at this year's Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Pro-Yorkshire Awards - known as the region's property Oscars.

The annual contest was hosted by TV personality George Clarke, a British architect best known for the Channel 4 series The Restoration Man.

RICS judges said the new £50million campus is more than just a college building and praised it as a community resource and an exciting working environment for students.

The Old Mill Lane building will now compete against other leading projects from across the UK in the national RICS Awards.

RICS is a quality standard. The Fact that a building in Barnsley won it over all the others in yorkshire is a feather in Barnsleys Cap

I like the building, especially the red colour on a sunny day.
