CCTV Is Deterring Petrol Thieves

Tuesday May 7 2013

We Are Barnsley We Are Barnsley

CCTV cameras installed to deter petrol thieves in Shafton are doing their job, according to a local councillor.

Dave North, the chairman of Shafton Parish Council, said the two cameras were installed on lampposts overlooking a car park off Hawthorne Street three weeks ago.

Residents in Bedale Walk had said thieves had been drilling into car petrol tanks to steal fuel but Dave said he has not received any complaints from residents since.

Signs have also been erected to warn people the 24-hour cameras are in operation, after residents complained.

You can read the story here.

The poor stealing from the poor... they are nothing but scum and need to be named, shamed and then sent to hard labour for 20 years... but WE ALL know what happens... There is NO JUSTICE in this land, just a sad ineffective law system that favors the criminal and not the victim! ...

We need a lot more CCTV cameras, especially these temporary ones in response to local problems. E.g. see the Hoyland Hawshaw Lane story. Anyone moaning about invasion of privacy is up to no good.
