Darfield incident Darfield incident

A MAN has been detained under the Mental Health Act in Darfield.

Emergency services were called to Edward Street at about 3.35pm on Friday in response to a call expressing concerns for the welfare of a resident.

The man, in his early 40s, was talked out of the house by emergency services after reportedly locking himself in and was detained under the Mental Health Act.

Police, firemen and ambulance staff were camped at Middlewood Hall and the library throughout the day as a precaution as there had been initial reports of chemicals being present in the house.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said no chemicals were found in the house following a police search.

Rumours are rumours. Probably 1,000,000 miles away from the actual truth

Me, is that really any of your business? The man has been taken to a place of safety and it appears no 1 else was or is in danger it really isn't anything to do with anyone else

Does it usually take 14 police cars, 8 fire engines and 6 ambulances to get one man into a van?
