Derelict Lundwood Land Set To Be Transformed

Thursday April 11 2013

We Are Barnsley We Are Barnsley

DERELICT land in Lundwood could be transformed if plans for a residential housing development are given the go-ahead by officials.

Vacant brownfield land on The Close, off Lund Lane, could be used for 26 houses if an application by Jamie Unsworth, of Bury-based Cornell Group Ltd, is given approval by Barnsley Council planners.

A design and access statement produced by architects on behalf of Mr Unsworth says, historically, the area was agricultural land until it was developed for housing in 1931.

That development still remains and is predominantly low-density, two-storey residential houses and flats, which are mostly Housing Association properties mixed in with 'right to buy' units.

It says houses forming 'The Close' were demolished in 2008 and the site has since become a beacon for fly-tipping.

Proposals show the new homes will be a mix of two and three bedroom houses which will have two and one parking spaces, respectively.

So another southern company coming into Yorkshire to build. Typical.
Plus I bet they are more rabbit hutch size houses crammed onto a small site with inadequate parking.
All so the council can get as much council tax as possible. Plus who can afford to buy and if they can do they really want to live next to social housing where lazy unemployed people live? Doubt it.

I live near this area and I am not unemployed and far from lazy! Do not tarnish everyone the same. I think this would be a good idea.
