Police Crackdown For Alcohol on Wombwell High Street

Monday October 17 2011

PUBLIC drinking on Wombwell High Street is being targeted after residents complained people were ignoring the fact they were not meant to drink there.

South Yorkshire Police's Safer Neighbourhood Team say residents have asked for action to be taken because some people were disregarding the fact that High Street has been made an alcohol-free zone.

So far, during the crackdown, a man has been arrested for shoplifting at Rhythm and Booze and Tescos and a can was seized from a man who was drinking on the High Street.

Now they just need to make the town centre an "alcohol-free zone" and catch all the p**sed up t**ts that are constantly drinking down there and puts people off going shopping.

i won't go on Wombwell unless i absolutely have to, it's a disgrace that these people are sitting there drinking all day, if it makes me nervous, imagine how pensioners feel, and where the heck do they get all the money from? i work a full time job and can't afford to drink all day.

The fact there drinkin is a disgrace in itself, but a good number of the drinkers are also heroin users. Not a good mix when there are vulnerable people on the high street (women, children, Elderly). Glad something is been done.
