Darfield Couple Celebrate 65th Anniversary
Monday April 8 2013
A COUPLE from Darfield have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Jack and Rose Crossley met 71 years ago when an 18-year-old Jack was working at Wombwell Main pit, and Rose was working in its canteen.
Jack, 88, was a miner for 30 years, before taking over as the landlord of The Woodmoor pub in Carlton. The couple were there for just over 17 years until Jack's retirement.
"We've not got many secrets to a successful marriage," said Jack. "We've certainly had our fall outs! But we have been healthy so that's stood us in good stead. We've done everything we've wanted to do."
The couple celebrated their Blue Sapphire anniversary with a family meal along with their son, Howard.
