WAB Alert - Driving In Snow

Monday March 25 2013

Don't know about you, but I've seen so many people driving about with huge mounds of snow on top of their cars over the last few days.

The government has highlighted the problem.

Their official guide on driving in adverse weather conditions says the following:

Before you set off, you MUST be able to see, so clear all snow and ice from your windows.

You MUST ensure that lights are clean and number plates are visible.

Make sure the mirrors are clear and the windows are de-misted thoroughly.

Remove all snow that might fall off into the path of other road users.

Clearing snow from top of the car, not only stops it falling off infromt of behind drivers. If you brake hard all the snow falls down the windowsdreen. Covering the window with snow. Believe me, while driving and suddenly you can't see, is no laughing matter. It happened to me when driving conditions where bad. Luckily it was early morning and there where no cars behind. I only braked gently while driving under cudworth bridge with a oncoming car slid to my side. THE ROOF FULL OF SNOW IS JUST AS DANGEROUS AS DRIVING BLIND
