Gawber gets high mark Gawber gets high mark

TWO schools in the Dearne have been judged as ‘good’ by Ofsted inspectors.

It's welcome news for Highgate Primary and Carrfield Primary, which were both inspected last month.

Both gained academy status and joined the Navigate Academies Trust in September last year.

Highgate Primary Academy was found to be ‘good’ in all areas such as achievement of pupils and quality of teaching.

“The school has seen a rise in standards in reading, writing and mathematics across the school, and improvement continues," stated its report.

Principal Jo Leishman, said: “We are delighted the high hopes and high aspirations we have for our pupils were recognised by the inspection team."

Carrfield Primary Academy's report stated: “Pupils of all abilities make good progress in English and mathematics throughout the school. The overall quality of teaching is good, sometimes outstanding."

Principal Steve Poxton, said: “I am pleased the inspection team commented on the strong contribution made by everyone involved in the academy, including the governors and teaching staff, and most of all by our pupils, who are conscientious, well-behaved and keen to learn.“
