GENEROUS workers from a Barnsley company have raised £7,300 for their terminally ill colleague.

Amalgamated Construction employees rallied together and raised the figure by participating in a 13-mile sponsored pub walk around the borough.

Organised by Mark Wilkinson, the proceeds are going to the family of Harry Parham, who's terminally ill with cancer.

"I did a half marathon-style walk in Manchester, so I thought it'd be good to do a similar sort of thing in Barnsley for Harry," said Mark. "The twist was that we visited pubs on the way this time. It was a huge success," he added.

On March 3, employees from the Barugh Green-based firm embarked on their pub tour of the borough - most in fancy dress.

Dubbed "Walk For Life", the workers raised the astonishing amount with contributions from employees of the company.

Paul Pickering, who took part, said: "It was a great effort from all the people, such as those who donated both before and during the walk for a much-respected colleague."
