BARNSLEY Hospital has been praised by health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC) after inspectors found it is providing high standards of patient care and support for its staff.

The CQC paid an unannounced visit to the hospital and inspected four inpatient areas: gynaecology, cardiology, the stroke unit and orthopaedics.

In addition to observing the patient care and treatment being given, the inspectors spoke to 18 members of staff, 17 patients and four visiting relatives, as well as examining patient notes.

The CQC has now published a report on the visit, finding that the hospital is fully compliant against the standards inspected as well as identifying some examples of best practice.

“Without exception, patients spoke very positively about the support, care and treatment they received,” states the report.

Liz Libiszewski, Director of Quality and Performance, said: “We are pleased with the results of this report which reflect the hard work and commitment of our staff and high standard of care of our patients.“

This place is any easy target for people who have nothing better to do than pull it down. The staff here are well trained kind, considerate on most occasions. It,same as other public run establishments is struggling under the demands of the government.Who want people to moan moan moan so they can close close close or change change change,to save money.I used to be one of these nurses, the demands became too great for me.

How childish Jeff ! Its nothing to do with being an easy target, or people who have negative comments posting them because they have nothing better to do.
Its about the truth and everyone having their say, good or bad. Why do people making positive comments always have to attack people making negative comments?
Your health is the most important thing you have, and if you've been to a hospital any hospital and had a bad experience then you have a right to complain and I think a duty to warn others.
Rarely is an institution 100% bad, most people would agree with that. Barnsley hospital is no different.
However Barnsley hospital in my experience has more than its fair share of bad staff, and if by speaking out I can get that changed then thats for the good of everyone.
Grow up and face facts, nothing changes if everything is swept under the carpet and we pretend all is well.
The people of Barnsley need and deserve the best hospital possible, whats wrong with aspiring to that?

Utter rubbish Jeff! Staff do get wind of these inspections and make sure they're on their best behavior. I work on one of these wards and can tell you its not true. The standards aren't good and some of my colleagues can be really rude with patients and fellow staff.
