Police Increase Hoyland Patrols

Tuesday February 26 2013

POLICE have increased patrols in Hoyland after a spate of shop break-ins.

The Dragon House Chinese takeaway and the Galaxy Indian takeaway on King Street were targeted on February 12, as was Hoyland Pets.

A police spokesman said extra patrols were being made by Hoyland SNT officers and a crime prevention officer was speaking to shop owners.

Police community support officers are also giving out stickers to shop owners to say no cash is left in the premises, they said.

Mick Marsh of nearby Stephenson's Auto Repairs found two till registers belonging to the takeaway shops on Wednesday morning - one behind Hoyland Discount Furnishers furniture shop and the other on the corner of Booth Street - but it is unknown if money had been left in them.
