Grimethorpe Author's Tragic Book Could Be Turned Into Film

Wednesday February 27 2013

A BOOK about a mum's battle with cancer is racing up the best-seller lists - and it could be turned into a film.

Grimethorpe's Ian Millthorpe, whose book Mum's Way - a tribute to his wife Angela who died in 2010 - is already at the top of Asda Direct's book charts.

The story about Angela - who died aged 48 while undergoing treatment for cancer - has received rave reviews.

After over 17 years in remission, her cancer returned. The book tells of how she taught Ian all the skills he needed to care for their eight children - including learning favourite lullabies and plaiting their daughter's hair.

"We had six London publishers fighting over us and all of them said the book was really special. There has also been talk of buying the film rights,'' said Ian.
