Barnsley's Potholes - A WAB Guide

Thursday February 21 2013

WABers, we're all aware of the state of Barnsley's pothole-filled roads.

They've caused a lot of problems for a lot of people. Some are that bad, they're even damaging our vehicles.

I put a status up on the We Are Barnsley Facebook page commenting on their state, and many of you responded.

This got me thinking...

Here's your chance to name every pothole-ridden road you come across. Barnsley Council read your thoughts on WAB, so comment below and tell us where in Barnsley they are.

Especially the stretch of 30 yards between the section that the council resurfaced 2 months ago and the traffic lights at New Lodge Post Office, would it have hurt them to think a bit further and to have carried on that extra 30 yards???

All the way up Aldham House lane is terrible, it's been endlessly (badly) patched, coupled with the speed humps that are on the same stretch its an absolute nightmare to navigate without weaving all over the road.

aldham house land onto windmill road its dangerous trying to avoid them when something coming other way but if you hit 1 you could damage your car also down side off egg farm in wombwell going towards woods is terrible theres water running off fields and washing tarmac away

summer lane barnsley from......bottom of blackburn lane to junction with victoria crescent west ,i have reported it but as usual nothing gets done ,if i break a spring whilst driving over it i WILL AGAIN start court proceedings to claim off the council inept highways dept and the council WILL AGAIN instruct solicitors to contest my claim (wasting council tax payers £££££ in doing so ),bring it on AGAIN if it happens.

Instead of just whinging about it, do something about it!

Go to this website and click on "report a hazard". You then just have to identify where the potholes etc are on a map and put a few details about the size of it etc, and it gets reported to the relevant council. If there are then issues such as a cyclist hits a pot hole that has been reported previously, and the council haven't done anything about it, they're on very dodgy ground (no pun intended, well, maybe a bit), so it's likely it will be fixed. Every one that I've reported has been fixed previously.

New Road at STaincross, bad with pot holes that are getting worse and stress crackes all over the tarmac where it is failing and developing into new pot holes every month.
