Eight-Year-Old Receives Letter From The Queen

Tuesday February 5 2013

Aidan Simpson Aidan Simpson

AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD boy from Athersley North has received a letter from the Queen.

Aidan Simpson wrote a letter to Her Majesty in December, wishing her and the Royal family a merry Christmas.

He also sent a picture he had drawn of the Queen walking with her corgis.

Aidan's mum, Donna said: "He only wrote 'Buckingham Palace, London' on the envelope. We sent it but didn't ever think he'd get anything back.
The post came and he saw his name on the envelope. We couldn't believe it."

Aidan says it felt 'amazing' to receive the letter.
He said: "I wanted to write to the Queen because it was the Diamond Jubilee and it was coming up to Christmas."

The response from Her Majesty thanked Aidan for his kind thoughts in his letter.

It's nice to see the younger generations have an interest in the monarchy :) Long live the Queen!
