Extra Police Patrol Hospital After Bag Snatch

Friday January 18 2013

EXTRA police and security patrols have been patrolling around Barnsley Hospital after a nurse and visitor had their handbags snatched on the same night.

The two thefts took place just off Queen's Drive, and the other in the car park in front of the hospital.

A spokeswoman from the hospital said no-one was injured and a man was arrested by police soon afterwards.

She said: "The safety of our staff and patients is of utmost importance to us and a number of measures have been put into place to enhance the safety around the hospital site, including increased security and police patrols.

"We have also given our staff further safety guidance, so they are more aware and can take more control over their personal safety when travelling on foot."

As the story reads from a statement given a man was arrested soon afterwards. If this is the case then why are more patrols around the hospital? What the story fails to mention is that the WRONG person was arrested after false accusations were made. He was arrested and later released without charge from what I know so if near the hospital I would still be weary.
