Wednesday January 2 2013

The missing gun dog The missing gun dog

POLICE are investigating after sneaky thieves stole a high value gun dog while its owner was just metres away.

The dog - a German short-haired Pointer - was in scrubland near its owner at around 7.20am on December 6 in the parking area at the start of the old Wagon Road in Cawthorne.

The female owner was putting her other dogs in the car when she spotted a white Transit-style van speeding away - and no sign of her dog.

The dog is micro-chipped and is liver and white in colour, and is a national champion gundog.

A police spokesman said: "The owners of the dog are extremely upset, and have gone to every possible measure to locate her."

Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting incident number 227 of 6 December 2012.

This is so dreadful. We lost 2 cocker spaniel bitches from our garden in July 2011, one was still feeding pups. That was travellers and the police acted very fast and they dumped the girls fairly locally. We were very fortunate that they managed to find their way safely home although they were in a very distressed state. Never give up hope.

I have a beautiful pure white German shepherd, love her to bits. After reading this I'm not even going to let her out for the toilet without watching her. Hope you find her.
