Housing Plan Revealed For School Site

Thursday November 29 2012

MORE than 140 houses will be built and 250 new jobs created on the former Royston High School site.

Kier Property Developments have plans to build new homes on the site off Midland Road and Station Road.

The development is set to create about 250 new jobs in the village, both during construction and at the retail facilities that are being built which include a petrol station and kiosk.

Tom Gilman, director of Kier Property, said: "We think this is an exciting development for Royston.

"Our proposals will ensure that the town remains a lively and vibrant place to live and work.

"The council wants to see Royston thrive and so do we."

Royston High closed in December 2010, with children being transferred to the newly built Carlton Community College.
