Grimethorpe Crash Lad In Life-Threatening Condition

A TEENAGER is in hospital with life-threatening head injuries after his car collided with a lorry this morning (September 23) near Grimethorpe, Barnsley.
The blue Kia Picanto was travelling on Park Spring Road when it appears to have veered across the carriageway and crashed with a burgundy Mercede LGV travelling in the opposite direction.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: "The Picanto rebounded off the carriageway, striking trees before coming to rest facing towards Shafton. This happened just before 7am today.
"The Picanto driver, a 17-year-old local boy, sustained life-threatening head injuries and is currently detained at Barnsley District General Hospital."
Police want to hear from anyone who saw the Picanto being driven in Shafton or the A6195 prior to the collision, or anyone with information about the collision itself.
Anyone with information should contact South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020 quoting incident number 152 of Friday, 23 September.
