Resident's Parking Clampdown Approved

Thursday November 29 2012

PROPOSED parking restrictions around a residential development close to Barnsley Hospital have been approved despite objections from residents.

The planned measures deal with road safety issues on Myrtle Street and Stocks Lane, off Summer Lane, caused by houses built on the former Empire Mills site.

The restrictions will prohibit waiting at any time at the junction of Myrtle Street and Stocks Lane, the entrance to The Blossoms and the entrance to Medlar Croft.

A disabled parking bay outside 3 Myrtle Street will also be amended to bring it up to current standards.

The plans received no opposition from councillors during a consultation period, although four Myrtle Street residents objected because they felt it would limit parking for homeowners.
