Students Anthony Mackie, 16, and Nenad Smiljanic, 17, play for Barnsley Sports Academy and were entered by county coaches to take part in trials held by the English Schools Football Association for their age group.
The pair are the first players in South Yorkshire to make it through the selection process in over two years.
Leigh Mackie, Sports Development Officer, said:
“To be recognised at the early age of 16 and 17 as talented sportsmen, the future looks incredibly promising for both of them.”
