A PRISONER who absconded after being on day release in Barnsley has been found.

Wayne Hood, 36, was working at Wilkinson Street on Friday and absconded at about 1pm after seeing prison staff who were visiting him.

He reported to Doncaster Police Station last night (November 14.)

A police spokesman said: "Following a police appeal, absconded prisoner Wayne Hood has been returned to police custody.

"Police would like to thank the community for their assistance in this matter."

Hood is serving an indeterminate sentence at HMP Hatfield open prison in Doncaster and is regularly allowed to leave the prison to complete work placements.

He handhed himself in, he was not found by the police.
So don't give them credit for something else they failed to achive.

WAB could you report what he had been found guilty and why he had an indeterminate sentence? Then the public can ask why he is on day release in Barnsley.

He is on day release because he is low risk -no risk. What he was guilty of is irrelevant as the whole sentence of ipp is no longer legal after the courts of human rights declared it was an unfair and unjust sentence. He handed himself in - voluntary as stated above so let the guy be he's served his time plenty!!!!!!
