Number of Alcoholics On The Increase

Wednesday November 14 2012

A SUPPORT group claims thousands of locals are battling a booze problem and has warned numbers are increasing.

Alcoholics Anonymous says there are around 7,000 people suffering from alcoholism in Barnsley and thinks the rise in numbers could be down to cheap alcohol in supermarkets, extended opening hours in pubs and clubs or the stresses and strains of the economic downturn.

November marks the AA's awareness month and if you have a drink problem contact 0114 270 1984 for help.

The AA also has a sister organisation, Al Anon Family Groups, to help the families of those with serious drink problems, contact 0207 407 0215.

My alcohol problem is the price - it is too expensive. Dodgy cheap vodka it is then.
