Mum Speaks Out After Road Accident
Thursday October 11 2012
THE traumatised mum of a five-year-old boy that was hit by a car has spoken out to thank the strangers who helped her.
The accident happened on Wakefield Road at New Lodge on Thursday morning. The boy received head injuries which will be treated at Sheffield Children's Hospital but his mum - who wishes to remain anonymous - said it could have been worse had it not been for passers by.
She said: "I was so overwhelmed with all the help I had, we are still in shock over what happened as it all happened so fast.
"I was just seconds away from him and felt useless that I couldn't stop him in time but with the quick thinking of passesrby and friends he arrived safely at the hospital.
"He is back to his normal happy self and has escaped with bruises and cuts and a head injury. I will never be able to thank the quick thinking people enough but they will always be in my heart."
The boy was hit after stepping into the road, a police spokesman said. He is now recovering from his injuries.
