Respite Centre Plan Approved For Pub
Thursday September 13 2012
A FORMER Dodworth pub will be converted into a respite care centre for people with learning disabilities, We Are Barnsley can reveal.
David Cuthburtson was given permission from the council to change the Gate Inn on Barnsley Road into to offices, daycare and respite centre on behalf of Aspire In The Community Ltd.
The planning report said: "The development will bring back into use a disused public house that has been empty for several years and has become a target for vandals and thieves.
"The scheme has implications for general community as the current situation with the site being vandalised and used for delinquent activity is not good for the community; the local residents and local authority have been consulted on this development and the current proposal has been agreed as the best way forward for this site."
