Students celebrate A Levels

Thursday August 15 2019

STUDENTS across the borough found out their A Level results today, with the pass rate achieving 99.3 per cent.

The national pass rate is 97.6 per cent, with Barnsley seeing an increase in the percentage of pupils achieving AAB+ from 10.6 per cent in 2018 to 24.7 per cent this year.

Coun Margaret Bruff, Cabinet spokesperson for People (Children), said: “The results announced in Barnsley today demonstrate both the hard work and talent of both Penistone Grammar School and Barnsley College students and the dedication of all staff that have supported their learning.

“On behalf of Barnsley Council, I’d like to offer my sincere congratulations to all students at this important milestone in their learning and development.

"Our ambition, which is delivered through our Children and Young People’s Trust, is for every young person to achieve their goals - whether through a placement, higher education, or employment. The Trust is working hard to continue to improve the attainment of Barnsley’s children and young people.

“Today marks the first step towards many of our young people’s future careers.”
